It's fair to say that Isobel Neviazsky has become a regular collaborator of O Panda Gordo. After EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: the life of a pizza chef (2018), a collection of diary drawings turned into a graphic novella reflecting on the artist's own experience of working as a pizza chef, and a feature on Seven Stories 3 (2018), we are very proud to publish the driver, which is presented by the author as "a psychological nightmare" and "a tale of suffering".

We've been appreciating how Neviazsky's ongoing drawing practice often incorporates narrative elements and even how its outcomes sometimes end up taking a sequential format. However, the driver is, according to Neviazsky herself, her first attempt at making a comic book. And indeed, in the context of her practice, it's clear that she's exploring something new here, specially in the way she's thinking about layout and experimenting with the idea of continuity when approaching each page.

In the driver, Isobel Neviazsky takes us on a difficult but impressive journey through the life, mind, and fate of "a man who works as a car" and "has a rich man stand on him who he must drive". A tale about power, employment, and freedom, set in a disturbingly familiar dystopic world.
